Today is World Suicide Prevention Day and sadly, this year the Coronavirus pandemic has exacerbated known risk factors for suicide. Financial worries, anxiety around health, isolation and loneliness, instability and uncertainty are rife, so it is an extremely important time to raise awareness about suicide and how it can be prevented.
Community Support
Warrior Addict are proud to support UK charity Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM), who are leading a movement against male suicide. Each time a Warrior Addict Yoga Mat is purchased, we make a donation of £5 to CALM.
Local Education - Create Awareness
The CALM website is a great resource, covering a myriad of issues. CALM offer both a helpline and a webchat service, which operates between 5pm and Midnight every night. This fantastic service is free, confidential and anonymous.
Encourage Reaching Out
CALM facilitate and co-ordinate ‘collectives’, which exist to get people involved in mental health conversation through shared passion points, for example the ‘CALM Running Collective’, which help to alleviate any pressures or worries around the preconceptions of traditional support
Connect
Part of our mission here at Warrior Addict is to encourage more men to give yoga a try, in order that they can reap the physical, mental and spiritual benefits that a regular yoga practice provides. We have spoken to many men that cite yoga as contributing greatly in reducing their levels of depression and anxiety. We offer a variety of free online yoga classes for beginners, which facilitate the opportunity to give yoga a try from the comfort of your own home and free of charge. Through our social media platforms, you can join a community of like-mined individuals.
If you or someone you know is feeling low, has hit a wall for any reason, who need to talk or find information and support, contact the CALM helpline. If you are in the UK and need immediate help, please call emergency services on 999 or The Samaritans on 116 123. If you are outside the UK, you can find your local crisis centre here
